Phyllis Nelson - nascida a 3 de Outubro de 1950, em Indiana (EUA) e falecida a 12 de Janeiro de 1998, em Los Angeles (Califórnia, EUA) - era uma cantora norte-americana, mãe do cantor e produtor musical Marc Nelson.
O seu tema mais conhecido é "Move Closer", um enorme sucesso, por si composto, no ano 1984 - primeiro lugar no top britânico durante várias semanas - baseado na sua experiência pessoal ao ter vivido um romance, em Filadélfia, com um homem mais novo, com quem viveu sete anos.
Em França, o tema esteve seis meses no top das músicas mais ouvidas, Ainda em França, gravou, em 1985, um tema com o actor Alain Delon - "I Don't Know" - que fez parte da banda sonora do Filme "Parole de Flic".
O seu estilo musical situava-se entre a música de dança electrónica e o disco sound.
Phyllis morreu em Janeiro de 1998, vítima de cancro de mama, em Los Angeles (Califórnia). Tinha apenas 47 anos.
