Soft Cell -Tainted Love

Soft Cell é uma dupla inglesa, formada por Marc Almond (voz) e David Ball (sintetizadores), durante o começo da década de 1980. As canções do grupo frequentemente focavam o amor e o romance, assim como o lado sombrio da vida, com assuntos tal como perversão, transsexualismo, drogas e assassinatos. A dupla teve um hit mundial em 1981, com uma versão cover da canção "Tainted Love".

O grupo tornou-se o protótipo de grupo de synthpop. Surgiram na era New Romantic e New Wave, mas fizeram parte da chamada cena "futurista", ao lado de outros artistas semelhantes como Depeche Mode, OMD, Human League e Gary Numan. A natureza sombria das suas canção também contribuiu para que os Soft Cell se tornassem muito populares na emergente cena musical gótica. Algumas das suas músicas já foram remixadas por outros compositores ilustres, como Marilyn Manson e Trent Reznor da banda industrial Nine Inch Nails.
